Travelled by Hollywood Stars
Since the 1880’s, railroad passenger service has run through western Kansas, Southeastern Colorado, over Raton Pass and through northern New Mexico. The route follows the Santa Fe Trail and many historical sites and beautiful vistas exist along the rails. The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (Santa Fe) ran a series of fabled trains along the route. The California Limited started its service in 1892, and later the Chief and Super Chief were among the premier trains in the world when they coursed the route. The Super Chief was known as “the train of the stars”, ferrying Hollywood celebrities back and forth across the nation.
